The School of the Wise has its roots in English folklore,
commanding respect for elders. In the middle ages, elders would hold meetings and mentoring sessions
where they would visit and share their life’s wisdom. Coffee was forbidden as a mind-altering drink
during this time, so these meetings would often take place in the local “safe” coffeehouses. Thus, The
School of the Wise.
In Victoria, this tradition is carried on in a warm, friendly environment. You are encouraged to meet
with friends over a cup of coffee or glass of wine and discuss the events of the day, share your thoughts
on a good book, or just relax and enjoy a great meal. To date, The School of the Wise has played host
to tea parties, book clubs, groom’s dinners, rehearsal dinners, Chamber of Commerce and other meetings.
